We are very proud of our history. Ole F. Bergan (born in
Tønsberg) invented the Bergans packframe, and already in 1908 he had patented the frame carrying system.
This is the same fundamental idea on which the construction of today´s modern backpacks are based. Very soon, the products became well-known and many expedition leaders choose Bergans backpacks.  The Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen, used Bergans equipment on all his major expeditions. Bergans carrying system became standard equipment in the Norwegian army as early as in 1914.
