In the middle of Bragernes district is a cultural centre surrounding beautiful Drammen Theatre, the pride of our town.

Drammen´s citizens cried bltterly when the theatre, which was built in 1870, burnt down in December 1993, and they rejoiced when it was reopened in February 1996.

On a visit to the theatre you´ll understand why it receives so much attention and love.

WINTER DRAMMEN
More than 100 km of cross-country ski tracks, 42 km of illuminated ski tracks in the Drammen hills, an eldorado for all kinds of winter sports, including two alpine ski lifts within the borders of Drammen, with skiing equipment for hire, including snowboards.




ARON SKISLOPE

Alpine skiing and more speed Aronsløypa on the Bragernes side. Facilities include lifts and slopes of varying degrees of difficulty. Dark nights provide no difficulty here either, for the Alpine slopes are floodlit, of course. The slope is approximately a 15 minutes drive from the town centre.

Cross-country skiers will find unique opportunities on both sides of town. More than 100 kilometres of fine tracks await you. You can even enjoy splendid skiing by night if you follow the 42 kilometres of well-maintained lit tracks.

Ice skating is another activity to pursue in winter. There are several rinks throughout town, some of the floodlit.

Dark nights provide no difficulty here either, for the Alpine slopes are floodlit, of course. The slope is approximately 5 minutes walkingdistance from the town centre.

AASS BREWERY
was established in 1834 and is the oldest brewery in Norway today.

You will spot it at the banks of the Drammen River at the very same place as it has been since 1834.

The annual production of beer is aproximately 10 mill liter (85 000 barrels), and together with the production of 18 mill liters of soft drinks and mineralwater it gives employment to approximately 200 people.



AQUAVIT


In 1840 the brig "Preciosa" of Drammen crossed the Line (EQUATOR) round Cape Horn. Aquavit was part of the provisions on board, and this was how the Line Aquavit came to town.

On return to Drammen after the circumnavigation of the globe it was discovered that the remaining aquavit had obtained a rare, fine bouquet. Probarly the best known is Løiten.
