Canoeing and Kayaking is a fascinating experience, and you can choose the distance according to your needs, whether you have small children or want a really challenging trip with friends.

Numerous rivers and lakes make Norway an ideal holiday destination for those interested in canoeing and kayaking.

Some of the best places for these activities are the Femund area, Østfold, Aust Agder and Vest Agder, Telemark and suburban Oslo.

THE TELEMARK CANAL

To canoe along the Telemark Canal is a fascinating experience, and here you can choose the distance according to your needs, whether you have smallchildren or want a really challenging trip with friends.. You can start at Dalen and Notodden if you wish. For families we recommend the stretch from Kviteseid, to Ulefoss.

The following places have canoes for hire: At Dalen you can hire canoes by the hour or for several days. New canoes with oars and safety vests. The Tourist Office can provide tips and advice on trips from Dalen, and this is also where you can hire the canoes. The canoes can be collected along the entire stretch of The Canal.

For the canoe enthusiast we recommend Telemarkspadler´n on 9th of August, a canoe race from Fjågsund to Ulefoss.

One can hire canoes and kayaks with or without touring equipment. By all means bring your canoe on board M/S Henrik Ibsen. Reserve a place beforehand.

COASTAL ODYSSEY

Coastal Odyssey is a sea kayak outfitter and tour company that owns and operates two sea kayak centres in Norway. Our main area of operation is the Lofoten Islands, it is here we started running trips in 1999. We expanded in 2002 with the opening of our sea kayak centres in the Lofoten Islands and in Geiranger fjord.

SJOA KAJAKKSENTER is an educational center for kayak and rescue skills, and we run classes on all levels from beginners to experts. Our instructors have lots of river experience, and most of us have a pedagogical education degree.
