The statue of Viking King Olav Tryggvason in the centre of the marketplace. Trondheim was Norway's first Capital, founded by King Olav Tryggvason in 997. Trondheim holds a special place in Norwegian history and culture. Trondheim is the third largest city in Norway and have a population of approximately 150.000 inhabitants.

Trondheim is still the city where new kings receive their ceremonial blessing. Situated by the Trondheim fjord, it is surrounded by lovely forested hills, with the Nidelva river winding through the town.
