THE ISLAND AND IT´S FISHING VILLAGES

The name "Magerøya" truly reflects the island's Spartan, exposed vegetation. Nonetheless, for most of the island's inhabitants it is a beloved piece of earth. The North Cape municipality's area consists of Magerøya island and the mainland around the mouth of Porsanger fjord, in all 924 km2.

In addition to the municipal centre Honningsvåg, there are 5 fishing villages: Repvåg on the mainland, as well as Nordvågen, Kamøyvær, Gjesvær and Skarsvåg on Magerøya.
